Convalescence and Recovery

Chilton House is a Dual Registered Care Home offering nursing and intermediary care for those over 60 years of age.  We are not registered to care for the elderly mentally infirm.

Chilton House has many years' experience of looking after post-operative patients discharged from hospital.  We have expertise and well developed packages in caring for those recovering from:

  • Cardiac investigations and surgery (e.g. angioplasty, CABG)
  • Orthopaedic and general surgery (e.g. joint replacements, cholycystectomy)
  • Acute medical admissions (e.g. pneumonia, septicaemia)

Our in-house physiotherapists provide a vital link in the multi-disciplinary approach to our work at Chilton House.

At Chilton House we retain the services of a regular visiting local GP.  There is also emergency GP cover for out of hours service.

Chilton House consists of 4 teams led by a Matron RN / Executive Manager.

  • Nursing and Care - There is a Registered Nurse on duty 24 hours a day supported by a team of experienced nursing assistants (NVQ Level 3 qualified).  All our nurses have successfully completed Immediate Life Support Skills Training.  All nursing assistants and other house personnel are up to date with Basic Life Support Training Skills.  We have our own Automatic External Defibrillator and Emergency Equipment.
  • Physiotherapists - All MCSP qualified
  • Hospitality and Kitchen
  • Housekeeping and Maintenance

This staffing structure reflects the philosophy that nurses and carers have ‘Time to Care.’
