Getting back to work following illness or surgery...

Good convalescent care plays an important role in the healing process and can help to accelerate a return to good health and the ability to get back to full time employment.  It is therefore sensible when planning surgical procedures to consider after care to assist recovery and reduce the possibility of a re-admission to hospital.

We have many years’ experience of caring for post-operative patients discharged from hospital with particular expertise for those recovering from Orthopaedic procedures, Cardiac investigations, strokes and General Surgery. Strict hygiene practices provide a clean environment which prevents any possible spread of infection.

A highly detailed assessment process during the first 24 hours after arrival looks at the requirements for returning home. This provides the plan for a clear pathway to success. A thorough liaison with the hospitals’ consultants and physiotherapists ensures that on admission we have all the necessary relevant medical information.

A professional approach to individual nursing care is made possible by the high ratio of staff to patient. This staffing structure reflects the philosophy that staff have ‘Time to Care’. A Registered Nurse is on duty 24 hours a day assisted by a team of Nursing Auxiliaries.  The local GP practice is always on call.

Chilton House recognises that physiotherapy plays a crucial part in the recovery process.  Our experienced in-house team of physiotherapists are all MCSP qualified and are available 7 days a week.  Nursing staff support this programme with follow up exercises. An optional “out patient” physiotherapy clinic offers the opportunity for continuing the recovery process once the patient returns home

All the elements one could want to help recovery, in an idyllic environment, with charming and caring staff to take care of your every need.
Mr G, Tring

It was very reassuring to know that the nursing staff  were on hand if I needed them.  I can now look back on my convalescence as a time when I was well supported and cared for, rather than a period of trauma.
Miss P, Marlow
