Chilton House provides convalescent facilities to ease the transition from hospital to home. We have many years experience of looking after post-operative patients discharged from hospital. We have particular expertise for those recovering from:
- Orthopaedic and General Surgery (e.g. joint replacements, cholycystectomy)
- Cardiac investigations and surgery (e.g. angioplasty, CABG)
- Acute medical admissions
- Strokes
Healthcare professionals
We provide a very professional approach to our individual nursing care, facilitated by the high ratio of staff to patient. This staffing structure reflects the philosophy that nurses have ‘Time to Care’.
Chilton House consists of four teams led by a Matron.
- Nursing and Care – there is a Registered Nurse on Duty 24 hours a day supported by a team of experienced nursing assistants (NVQ Level 3)
- Physiotherapists – all MCSP Qualified
- Hospitality and Kitchen
- Housekeeping, Laundry and Maintenance
We retain the services of a dedicated local GP who makes regular visits to the house. There is also emergency GP cover for out of hours service.
Bedrooms
All our convalescent rooms have en-suite facilities including a walk in shower. Some are situated on the ground floor with large French windows that open onto the terrace. Convalescent beds are electronically powered to facilitate ease of access and comfort for the patient. All rooms have digital radios and televisions with Freeview channels and DVD player. There is a nurse call system to alert staff and a direct dial telephone.
Returning Home
We are able to offer advice and support to help you prepare for returning home. Once home our team will keep in touch to follow your progress. Our staff are always available should you have any queries.
